Why Camp Gray is Holding the Live out Loud Campaign:

As the Live out Loud Campaign crosses the halfway point, it is a good time to reexamine the vision we have for the campaign and its purpose.

It is tempting for us to get caught thinking that reaching the two million dollar goal or building the new dining hall is the reason why we are holding this campaign. I must remind myself that the campaign total and the new buildings are a means to an end and not an end in themselves.

Changing lives is the end. Showing campers that faith can be fun is the end. Creating a safe place where kids feel free to be themselves is the end. Forming the future leaders of the Church is the end. These are the reasons to give to the campaign.

What these buildings will do is allow us to reach more lives and to do so more efficiently and effectively. For example, the new dining hall, despite being substantially larger, will cost less to heat than Helen Hall does currently. These savings can create more scholarships or strengthen our programs. Also, with a more efficient kitchen, cooking and clean up will require less time, allowing the kitchen crew to be more available to help with the campers during the summer. All these small benefits add up. They add up to a more powerful experience that touches the lives of more people each year.
