Alumni Capital Campaign Appeal:

Calling all Camp Gray Alumni!
At the end of this summer you should have received a letter in the mail detailing our Alumni Association challenge to raise $42,500 for the Live out Loud Capital Campaign in order to name the staff gathering space. To date we have raised at total of $18,864.16 towards our goal. We would like to thank all of you who have contributed already and encourage those who have not yet made a donation to the campaign to consider making a pledge. Together we can assure that Camp Gray remains a vibrant, fun, and faith-filled place for campers and staff for years to come.

Here is the text of the Alumni Appeal Letter:

August 11, 2004

Dear Camp Gray Alum,

50 years of great memories.  Campfires.  Overnights under the stars.  Capture the flag.  Snipe hunts.  Outdoor mass.  Camp Gray has been an important place in the lives of thousands of campers and staff over the years.  Looking up at the stars on a warm summer night, I can almost hear the laughter and joy of children as I’m flooded with memories from camp.  Thinking about all of the amazing things that have taken place at Camp Gray makes me wonder what I can do to help ensure that Camp will always be there for future generations.

These stories and memories make me happy to share with you that the Camp Gray Alumni Association is announcing a unique opportunity for staff and camper alumni to be part of the current “Live Out Loud” $2 million capital campaign to support the future of Camp Gray.  The Alumni Association is initiating an effort to raise $42,500 from alumni donors to name the staff gathering space and furnishings in the new dining hall/office complex on behalf of all Camp Gray alumni.

The alumni listed on the back of this letter have already made their pledge.  Nine made unrestricted pledges totaling $10,700, which will be applied to the naming of the “Alumni Memorial Staff Room.”  In addition, 94% of the summer staff members from 2000–2003 contributed $3,363.72, which will also be applied to this effort.  After applying these amounts, we have a total of $28,436.28 to raise over five years to reach our goal for the staff gathering space.

This is where YOU can make a difference.  The individuals on the back of this form challenge all alumni to make a contribution to support the future of Camp Gray.  Making a gift to this effort is easy.  You can make a pledge for annual contributions over the next five years, or make your gift as a one-time donation.  In addition, the campaign staff has developed a system to enable you to make monthly contributions directly from your bank account.  Whether the amount is large or small, every gift will make a difference and help us reach our goal.

A pledge card is enclosed.  More information on the "Live Out Loud" Capital Campaign is available at http://www.campgray.com/CapitalCampaign.htm. You can also contact Joe Van Tassel, Camp Gray's Operations and Development Manager, at 800-711-4729 or via email >> to discuss your pledge.

Please join the alumni who have already made a contribution and help the Alumni Association reach our goal of naming the staff gathering space by making your pledge today.  Thank you for your consideration of this important effort.

In the spirit of camp,

 Jon Dooley
